Payment Gateway

A payment gateway is a software solution that enables the secure transfer of payment data between an online shop and the payment processor (e.g. a bank or financial institution). It checks whether payments are authorised and protects sensitive data through encryption. Payment gateways support various payment methods, such as credit cards and digital wallets, and facilitate the fast, smooth payment process in e-commerce. They serve as an interface between the customer, merchant and bank.
